Is forum marketing still Worth It?

For sure, forum marketing can definitely still be worth it, but you’ve gotta be smart about how you approach it.

I’ve been doing online marketing for over a decade now, and I’ve learned that being spammy or just dropping links won’t get you very far on forums.

The key is to actually provide value to the community first. You want to position yourself as an authority and build trust by sharing your expertise.

Whenever I’m active on a new forum, I always aim to be helpful by answering people’s questions thoroughly and offering practical tips from my own experience.

Once I’ve established myself as someone knowledgeable, then I might sensitively mention a relevant link to my site or product at the end IF it makes sense for that specific discussion. But I never make it the focus – the focus is on being a supportive member of that community.

For example, if someone asked how to find their niche, I wouldn’t just drop a link. I’d walk through some strategies I’ve used successfully, like researching growing markets, analyzing competition, and validating demand.

Throughout, I stay conversational but informative. Only at the very end might I say something like “By the way, I explore niche research more on my blog at…”

The wrong way is definitely just posting a bare link or a one-liner saying “click here for the answer!” People can smell self-promotion from a mile away, and it’s an instant turn-off. You have to earn the right to promote by consistently adding value first.

It takes patience, but forum marketing can absolutely still drive quality traffic if you put in the work to build relationships and credibility upfront.

How to PROPERLY Use Forums For Marketing?

As someone who has been involved in online marketing for over 10 years, I’ve learned that forums can be a valuable platform, but it’s crucial to approach them in the right way.

Become an Active and Engaged Member

First and foremost, it’s essential to become an active and engaged member of the forum community. This means consistently providing helpful and informative responses to other members’ questions and participating in discussions.

The goal is to position yourself as a knowledgeable and trustworthy source within the community.

Simply dropping links or promoting your products or services without adding value will likely be seen as spammy behavior and can damage your reputation.

Provide In-Depth and Actionable Advice

When responding to questions or participating in discussions, I personally aim to provide in-depth and actionable advice based on my own experiences and expertise.

I avoid using overly complex language or jargon, as the focus should be on delivering clear and concise information that is easy to understand for everyone.

Additionally, I always strive to engage with the community in a genuine and authentic manner. Spamming or posting irrelevant content solely for the purpose of promotion is not only ineffective but can also damage your reputation and credibility.

Promote Strategically and Contextually

Once I’ve established a presence and built credibility within the forum community, I may then occasionally include a relevant link to my website, blog, or affiliate product/service that I promote.

Of course, it has to naturally fit within the context of the discussion. However, I make sure that the link is not the main focus, but rather a supplementary resource for those who may be interested in learning more.

Follow Forum Rules and Guidelines

It’s also important to be mindful of the forum’s rules and guidelines regarding self-promotion and marketing activities. I got banned from forums a lot of times, and the frustration that followed didn’t worth the mischief the first time.

Even if you manage to get away with it, eventually you will get caught.

Some forums have strict policies in place, and violating these rules can result in warnings, post deletions, or even bans.

Be Patient and Consistent

Ultimately, the key to properly using forums for marketing is to provide value to the community, establish yourself as a respected and knowledgeable member, and only promote your products or services when it is relevant and appropriate.

It’s a long-term strategy that requires patience and consistent effort (like everything related to online marketing) but it can pay off in terms of building valuable connections and driving targeted traffic to your website or offerings.

Bottom Line

So, these are my top favorite internet marketing related forums that if used correctly can yiled you money, friends and reputation..

Joining one or more of these free marketing forums can provide tremendous value in terms of learning, networking, and getting feedback and advice.

The information and connections you gain can really help boost your affiliate earnings and marketing skills. I recommend starting with one that matches your experience level and interests, and then branching out from there.

Oh, btw, if you have any other forums in mind that I didn’t list here, then write them down in the comments section. Also, share this article with your friends on social media. It means a lot to me. 🀠
